Skilled Nursing

Skilled Nursing whether recovering for illness or injury, there are times when you may require the advanced medical resources and skilled nursing found in a hospital but while you rehabilitate at home. Skilled nursing helps prevent hospital readmission, improves recovery time, and helps you get back to doing the things you love as quickly as your treatment allows. Each of our clients receives a personal assessment conducted by one of our skilled nurses. We work with your loved one and family in creating an individualized plan of care that meets your loved ones unique physical and emotional needs – a plan that strives to not only improve their health but enhance their quality of life. This process, along with continual oversight by our nursing staff, helps us ensure that your loved one is receiving the very best care. If a nursing need should arise, we are right there to help. We can call the doctor and receive orders and if needed call in orders to the pharmacy. Our nurses work with the doctors and will perform doctor ordered procedures if needed. Possibly avoiding a trip to the ER or Urgent care. Occupational Therapy Services

Occupational therapy will help you or your loved one regain independence and mobility for daily living. Our occupational therapists will create a program tailored to your needs so you can bath, groom, get dressed, use the restroom unassisted or whatever else you need. We first need to learn the extent of your injuries, rehabilitation, and other therapy programs. Then we will work with you, your family, medical team and whoever else you would like involved. We might evaluate your home to create an environment that is safe and works for your current situation. Part of your plan may include working up to assistive devices to facilitate independent living.

Some people think that occupational therapy is a one-size-fits-all program. But that couldn’t be more different than the occupational therapy services provided by McAngel Home Visiting Nurses. We are driven by the needs of our patients and getting them to their goals. Some patients may be looking to get back to holding a tennis racket after a hand or arm surgery. Others may need a more intensive program to get back to living independently to avoid moving into assisted living. Let us help you create and reach your own goal with occupational therapy. Home Health Aide

Home health aides make up an important part of our home health team at McAngel Home Visiting Nurses. They provide the support, assistance, and caring presence that allows patients to remain safe and comfortable in their home environment. Most importantly, they improve the quality of life for the patients we serve. Just as everyone we provide care for is unique, the services our experienced home health aides deliver vary from patient to patient. Our Home health aides are trained and can help with:

  • Good hygiene and assistance with bathing
  • The importance of walking and maintaining mobility
  • Importance of good posture
  • Safe transferring from a wheelchair, walker or from chair to bed
  • Bowel and Bladder care such as incontinence and toileting care
  • Care of ostomy and catheter care
  • Assistance with eating due to physical or emotional challenges
  • Providing good oral, gum, and denture care

To be eligible under Medicare or Medicaid to receive home health services from Professional Healthcare, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Be under the care of a physician
  • Be “homebound”
  • Require “medically reasonable and necessary care”
  • Have an acute condition

McAngel provides wellness nurses to senior living facilities that may be interested in adding a health care component to their residential model. Our wellness nurses can:

  • Perform wellness assessments
  • Provide basic health screenings,
  • Conduct educational health seminars,
  • Refer and coordinate primary care or diagnostic services.

Vaccine Clinics

McAngel Home Visiting Nurses conducts vaccine clinics at many senior living facilities throughout Connecticut. Let our nurse practitioners and skilled nurses handle all the setup and paperwork for your residents. Our clinical team will do a basic health screening before administering the vaccine and handle all the billing so you can focus on running your facility. In most cases, our vaccine clinics are billed to your resident’s Medicare Part B insurance or other supplementary insurance.
